| WINTER IS COMING... The sun is setting sooner and the nights are getting colder! I am blessed to have a home with nice warm beds for my family to sleep in. Unfortunately, thousands of people and families aren't so lucky...they sleep on the streets, under bridges, in alleys, in shelters or anywhere else they can find to lay their head. That is what inspired, Love in a Bag. Many of us have sleeping bags and blankets that rarely or never get used and they are just collecting dust in our attics, closets and garages. "Let's put them to good use!" Please donate a new or used sleeping bag or blanket and help someone homeless sleep a little warmer tonight. If the Lord has blessed you with the finances to care for your family and you don't have any sleeping bags, won't you please consider purchasing one to donate? They aren't expensive and the gift of a warmer night's sleep for someone in need is priceless. "Blessed is he who considers the poor." Psalm 41:1 Jesus invites us to partake in His blessings by 'living beyond ourselves' and seeking the needs of others...by taking action and responding to His call to serve! He tells us that when we serve each other, we serve Him. "As you have done it to one of the least of these, my brothers, you did it unto Me." Matthew 25:40 Our risen Lord was a homeless man during His three year ministry. Given the opportunity, would we have offered him a warm blanket? We still can...by offering one to someone in need. |
